Background
With separate campuses for men and women, Al Yamamah University (YU) offers undergraduate degrees in Business Administration, Computing and IT as well as Executive MBA programs. English being the medium of instruction, Saudi INTERLINK Language Center (SILC) provides an intensive English language program during the foundation year to prepare students for their academic studies. SILC's other constituencies are: academically bound students; businesses and government agencies whose personnel need tailored, short-term programs for special purposes; K-12 schools needing teacher trainers; and persons in the larger community wishing to improve their English language skills for personal, professional, and study abroad purposes. The INTERLINK Al Yamamah partnership is also aimed at increasing international understanding and educational exchanges between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and North America.

Minimum Qualifications
Candidates for these positions must:
• Be able to commit to a two-year contract
• Be committed to students, the profession and to a learner-centered and humanistic teaching philosophy espoused by INTERLINK and Al Yamamah University
• Have an MA degree in TESL/TEFL, Applied Linguistics or in Education with TESOL specialization (Online degrees without an on-campus, residential component and TESL certificates of less than a year duration are not accepted). Regardless of the field of specialization, using the US educational credit system as a model/example, at least 21 credit hours of the MA program must be in second language acquisition, methods of teaching languages, applied linguistics, cross-cultural communication, and supervised practicum.
• Have a minimum of two years ESL/EFL teaching experience with adult learners
• Have at least one year of teaching and living experience in another culture and/or with international students at a university IEP in an English- speaking country.
• Be creative and flexible in order to adapt to an experiential, project- and needs-based approach to teaching
• Be sensitive to cultural differences (able to adapt to a way of life requiring understanding, conformity and flexibility) Preference will be given to those who are fluent in other languages and have Peace Corps or other humanitarian volunteer/service/work experience.
• Non-native speakers must:
-Have near-native proficiency in English
-Have at least one of their higher education degrees from an English-speaking country
-Have at least one year of ESL teaching experience in an English-speaking/Western country.

Responsibilities
• 20 hours of weekly instruction
• Administrative duties which include student advising, record-keeping, and report writing
• Participation in program activities (training, orientation, workshops, placement testing, etc.)
• Participation in meetings (with students, faculty, parents, and others on and off campus)
• Keeping office hours to advise/counsel students who may need extra help
• Serving on committees, participating in on- and off-campus activities and events

Salary, Benefits and Terms
• Initial starting salary of $38,000 - $40,000 per annum
• Annual salary increases of up to 5%, with a maximum salary ceiling of $45,000
• 5% end-of-service bonus for each year of completed contract
• Round-trip transportation to and from Saudi Arabia
• Furnished housing
• Medical insurance coverage
• 45-day paid annual leave with international transportation and 20 days of local holidays
• Local transportation to and from the place of instruction

Background

For more than three decades, INTERLINK has been offering intensive English language training, academic preparation, and cultural orientation to students, scholars and professionals from around the world at its US university centers.

With over a decade of operations in Saudi Arabia, INTERLINK is now entering its third year of a contractual agreement with the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC), a Saudi government organization overseeing the country's colleges of technology and telecommunication. The goal of the program is to prepare students for different professional functions needing English as a medium of communication. Most students are preparing for the workplace, while a small number also continue to higher education either in the Kingdom or abroad.

Minimum Qualifications
Candidates for these positions must:
• Be citizens of English speaking countries with native or near-native fluency in English (Non-native English speakers may be considered if their undergraduate credentials are from an English-speaking country)
• Have an undergraduate degree (BA/BS) in English, education or a related field (NB: The Saudi government does not recognize on-line degrees or certificates; all must be residential.)
• Hold an SIT TESOL or CELTA Certificate or equivalent (at least 120 hour of instruction; online certificates will not be considered)
• Have experience with zero beginners
• Have strong computer skills
• Have a minimum of one year of ESL/EFL teaching experience with adult learners (this will change to two years after August 2013
• Preference will be given to those who have or can demonstrate:
Advanced training/MA in TESL
Creativity and flexibility to adapt to a learner-centered program using an experiential, content-based and needs-based approach
Ability to adapt to a way of life requiring understanding, conformity, and flexibility
Commitment to students, the profession, and innovative approaches to teaching method
Fluency in other languages and/or Peace Corps or similar service/work experience in another country
Experience with course management systems

Responsibilities
• 20 hours of weekly instruction of core classes, plus 10 hours weekly of work on individualized instruction, which includes supervision of student work done in core classes, labs, or any other language needs students may have
• Record-keeping, grading, and report-writing
• Initial placement testing of students
• Keeping office hours for meetings with students
• Participation in faculty meetings, committees, and professional development

Salary, Benefits and Terms
• $35,750 - $42,500 salary per annum, commensurate with experience
• Annual renewable contracts.
• Local holidays and 45 days of paid summer vacation
• Round-trip transportation to and from Saudi Arabia
• Local transportation to and from the campus
• Furnished housing (two- to three-bedroom apartments to be shared by two instructors)
• Medical insurance, with 10% co-pay
• 5% end-of-service bonus for renewal of 12-month contract
